• Account Information: Email address, name, and authentication data when you create an account
• Usage Data: Videos processed, features used, processing configuration
• Uploaded Content: Videos and media you upload for processing
• Payment Information: Billing details processed securely through LemonSqueezy (we do not store credit card numbers)
• Technical Data: Browser type, IP address, device information, and usage patterns

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the VELA Service
• Process your videos with the effects and configurations you select
• Manage your account and subscription
• Send service-related communications (updates, security alerts, billing notices)
• Enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the product experience

3. Video Content Handling

Videos you upload are processed on our servers solely to apply the effects you configure. Uploaded videos and processed outputs are stored temporarily and may be periodically deleted. We do not use your video content for training AI models, marketing, or any purpose other than providing the Service to you.

4. BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)

When you use AI features (transcription, script optimization) with your own API keys (OpenAI, Google Gemini), those keys are sent directly from your browser to our backend via request headers. We do not store, log, or retain your API keys. The keys are used ephemerally for the duration of your request only.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

• Service Providers: Payment processing (LemonSqueezy), authentication (Clerk), hosting (Vercel, Railway), and analytics
• Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government request
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Uploaded videos and processed outputs may be deleted after processing or after a period of inactivity. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

7. Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and secure payment processing. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Cookies

VELA uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We may also use analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.

9. Third-Party Services

VELA integrates with third-party services including Clerk (authentication), LemonSqueezy (payments), and optionally OpenAI and Google (AI features via BYOK). Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their policies.

10. Children's Privacy

VELA is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
